Miss Rodeo Alaska Pageant 2016

What a whirlwind weekend in beautiful Wasilla, Alaska. We had a terrific all day clinic with 5 parents, 1 grandparent and 10 students. 2016 Miss Rodeo Oregon, Katie Schrock joined us and provided a wealth of knowledge as one of our clinicians. Laura Stockemer, 2015 Miss Rodeo Alaska and I so appreciated her talent and ability to connect with the contestants. Katie and Laura were Snap Chatting all weekend.

We had terrific 3 judges who donated their time. Frank Koloski, co-owner of Rodeo Alaska James Hastings, co-founder of Alaska's Healing Hearts and an active volunteer for Wounded Warrior projects Madison Finch, 2015 Alaska High School Rodeo Queen

They gave encouragement to all the contestants through out the pageant.

Our horsemanship part of the pageant was held in the evening at Silver Legacy Stables who provide the facility and the horses for our Teen and Miss contestants. Princess and Sweetheart contestants provided their riding pattern on flash drives for our judges. We had to move our crowning venue due to the great response from the community, family and friends.

2016 Miss Rodeo Alaska is Shyanne Schebler, 19 from Anchorage. Lady-in-Waiting is 20 year old Michailia Massong from Chugiak. Both will be attending the Miss Rodeo Oregon pageant in August.

We also crowned: 2016 Teen Miss Rodeo Alaska is Johnna Drew, 16, from Anchorage 2016 Princess Miss Rodeo Alaska is Skyla Ketchel, 14 from Anchorage 2016 Sweetheart Miss Rodeo Alaska is Breanna Butchart, 11, from Wasilla.

All of these ladies will be promoting Alaska rodeo and sponsors through out the next year.

Thank you to the Best Western Inn-Lake Lucille, and Valley Realtors Board for our clinic and pageant locations, John Gomes for his excellent photography, and to all of the sponsors, family and friends. We look forward to the coming year, and to next years pageant. We also made many new friends, found future sponsors, and a few missing Miss Rodeo Alaska title holders from the past. The weather was perfect...hot for this time of year in Alaska, but in the high 70's.

All in all, a great weekend in Alaska
