Junior Court Director
Sherrie Betts
Sherrie Betts was raised in Reno, Nevada and moved to Alaska in 2013 with her husband Derek and two kids, Tanner and Mackenzie. Sherrie graduated from University of Nevada Reno with a Bachelors Degree in Sociology, a Minor in Business and later earned her Masters Degree in School Counseling. Sherrie works at Mirror Lake Middle School as a School Counselor. Sherrie turned her passion for fashion into her own small business when she became an Independent Cabi Stylist for the clothing line Cabi four years ago. When Sherrie is not working, she is either at the barn, a rodeo, or out big game hunting, fishing, or 4 wheeling with her family. Sherrie's most memorable hunt was a family trip to South Africa. During the spring and summer, Sherrie enjoys shrimping and fishing in Prince William Sound, followed by fall which is traditionally filled with hunting. Sherrie became involved with Miss Rodeo Alaska Inc. last year when her daughter Mackenzie got her first horse, Mocha. Mackenzie started competing in local barrel races, High School Rodeo, and entered the Miss Rodeo Alaska Pageant and won the title of Miss Rodeo Alaska Princess. Since then, Sherrie has become involved supporting the Miss Rodeo Alaska Royalty Junior Court. This year, as the Junior Court Coordinator for Miss Rodeo Alaska, she will be helping to support the Junior Court participants with appearances and promoting Miss Rodeo Alaska Inc. She is excited to help guide these young ladies through this truly amazing experience of being part of the Miss Rodeo Alaska Royalty Court. Sherrie is also a board member of Alaska High School Rodeo and will be working with both organizations to support youth in Alaska who share a passion for horses and the western way of life. Sherrie is all about supporting and doing things as a family and is looking forward to spending time with her son Tanner who will be a Senior in High School this next year before he leaves to college.
